KAA Launches New Generation Aircraft Recovery System at JKIA

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has commissioned a new generation aircraft recovery system at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, significantly strengthening the airport's ability to respond to a disabled aircraft event.

The system allows trained KAA airside teams to lift, tow, and reposition a stranded aircraft off the runway far more quickly than legacy equipment, minimising costly runway downtime and flight disruption.

JKIA is Kenya's single busiest runway system, and rapid recovery capability is a critical part of protecting on-time performance for the dozens of daily international and domestic departures that rely on it.

The investment forms part of a broader programme of airside equipment upgrades under the JKIA Integrated Master Plan.
